Bucyrus-Erie was an American surface and underground mining equipment company. It was founded as Bucyrus Foundry and Manufacturing Company in Bucyrus, Ohio, in 1880. Bucyrus moved its headquarters to South Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1893. In 1927, Bucyrus merged with the Erie Steam Shovel Company to form Bucyrus-Erie. In 1930, it formed a joint ventuer in the UK under the name of Ruston Bucyrus. In 2011 the enterprise was purchased by Caterpillar fotr 6.8 billion dollar At the time of its acquisition. In 1957 the last dredger was build, and Bucyrus only focussed on land based ecquipment. They had build 336 dredgers in 74 years. For the works on the Paname Canal Bucyrus built 77 ofthe 102 dredgers, their subsidary Marion Power built 24 dredgers, so out of a total of 102, Bucyrus delivered 101 dredgers.
It is unclear wether Bucyrus built the complete dredgers or only the excavating equipment in all cases.
