Barge-loading bucket ladder dredger.
Each bucket has a capacity of 36 cub. ft., or fully two tons of material, giving a lifting capacity of 1890 tons p/h. 21/12/1911 Left Clyde for Odessa. It is surmised she foundered in the English Channel. 19 lost. Named for military engineer lieutenant-general Franc Devolant? (wickedpedia=DEVELANT)
