About this equipment

She was originally built as the vehicle/tank landing craft LST 987 for the U.S. Navy In 1973 she was converted from a tank landing craft to a sand hopper/suction dredger and renamed Esperance III in June 2003 following a sale to Proteus Company, she was renamed Columbia and her call sign was changed to WTM3497. She was also re-classified as an "industrial vessel"
