Founded in 1927 as „Oberrheinische Schiffswerft Spatz & Co GmbH“ 1953: name changed into „Germersheimer Schiffswerft“, after the company „Reederei Reichel & Co“ bailed in. In the seventies the name was changed into „Neue Germersheimer Schiffswerft“.
