Howard H. McClintic began the McClintic-Marshall Construction Company (M-M) in 1900 with his Lehigh University engineering classmate Charles D. Marshall. Over the next 30 years, M-M became the largest independent steel manufacturing firm in the country. They were also invoved in the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
Company became part of the Bethlehem Steel group in 1931. Ona dredger is built by McClinic- Marshall: The dipper dreger Beaver for the US Army Corps of Engineers, at the time of the merging (1931/32).
