The shipyard in Frederikshavn (today: Frederikshavn Maritime Erhvervspark) was founded in 1870 by shipbuilder H. V. Buhl. In 1913, the yard had financial problems, and the founder, H.V. Buhl, resigned. The Danish shareholders and DFDS provided the necessary capital and formed a new company called Frederikshavn Værft og Flydedok.
In 1981, the yard was taken over by J. Lauritzen Holding and changed its name to Danyard A/S. It closed in 1999, after which the shipyard area was taken over by Frederikshavn Maritime Erhvervspark, which rents out buildings and other facilities on the former shipyard areas. The yard facilities with bedding and cranes are today leased to the company Orskov Yard A/S.
