Perini Corporation grew out of the hard work of Italian immigrant Bonfiglio Perini. In 1892, five years after he emigrated from Gotolengo, Italy, where he had been a stone mason, Bonfiglio Perini won contracts to build waterworks projects in the eastern United States. In 1918 Bonfiglio Perini brought his sons officially into his business by incorporating the company as B. Perini & Sons, Inc., later Perini Corporation.
In 1991 the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Historical Foundation posthumously honored his son Louis Perini as one of the top contractors in the engineering and construction industry.
In 1997, Ron Tutor helped Perini Corp. When they were heavily in debt, to recapitalize the firm. Tutor became CEO of Perini in 2000 and merged Perini with Tutor-Saliba in 2008, to form Tutor Perini.
