Seagoing Hopper Dredge:

  • Delivered 1904 and placed in commission by the US Army Corps of Engineers, as USED Atlantic
  • Retired from US Army service, date unknown
  • Sold, date unknown, renamed Megas
  • Rebuilt at Jacksonville, FL. as a tugboat in 1919
  • Sold in 1924 to Cherbourg Rescue Society, renamed Landemer, reflagged France, rebuilt as a ferry for disembarking United States Line ships
  • Seized by British at Southampton, 17 July 1940
  • Final Disposition, scrapped June 1968 at Toulon, France.

Confusing reporting:

A vessel also named "Atlantic' was built by the New York SB yard at Camden (NJ) in 1904 under nr 16. She was sold in 1918 as Megas, Landemer in 1934 and also scrapped in 1968. As she was converted to a tug, the given dimensions are different: 500 tons and a lengthe of 45m
