Finnish shipbuilder Työvene and Maritime office of Gdynia recently signed a contract worth €20 million for the construction and delivery of a state-of-the-art Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger.
According to shipbuilder, the order is a result of a tender where the design developed by Työvene and Dutch partners C-Job and Holland Marine Technologies was found not to only fulfill but exceed all the client’s complex needs and requirements.
The delivery of the new hopper dredger is set for late 2023.
When completed, the ship will be used by the Maritime office of Gdynia for maintenance and preservation work on the five metres deep main waterway from the Gulf of Gdansk through the Vistula Lagoon to the Elbląg River.
It will also be used to maintain track depth parameters of smaller ports of the Vistula Lagoon, where depths can be up to 18 metres.
